With the kind invitation of a GCR fireman I was invited aboard the 8F for a round trip to Leicester North. Unfortunately on the return run she lost a beat and was failed upon arrival at Loughborough with broken valve rings. Thank you for the kind gesture. The loco was repaired and running again the following weekend.
